This Week's "Cafe Minamdang" Makes Me Further Wish My Wacky Wishful Casting Happened

Image
EpicStream I was looking into Cafe Minamdang. Okay, I'm still fine with the cast but I felt some scenes would've been "better" or "funnier" if some selected members of the cast of Justice were playing the roles. I would actually think about the weird scenes that happened. I'd be naming what I felt could've been funnier if these guys took the roles instead. The most obvious has to be that I actually want Choi Jin Hyuk and Jin A Nana to portray the contrasting rivals. They did that in Justice where Nana wants justice to prevail while Jin Hyuk gets corrupted by his desire for revenge. They could've done a funnier job as Nam Han Joon (a fallen profiler turned "shaman") and Han Jae Hee. I kinda wanted to see Jin Hyuk kiss Nana on-screen. Besides, I felt that there was an opportunity to turn it into a Beauty and the Beast mixed with detective action. Anybody who saw the 1987 TV series of the same name might be able to relate. IMDB For a start...

Cafe Minamdang Wacky Wishful Casting

Image
Soompi I was watching Cafe Minamdang this week and I felt that Netflix may have missed a good opportunity. The story involves a former champion of justice gone rogue and a righteous woman in the law. This really reminds me of one of my favorite suspense K-Dramas called Justice   which I felt had more or less the same situation. I wanted to watch Hometown but I feel like my current state (colds and cough) should make me watch something lighter instead. I enjoy watching suspense dramas which make me think hard and do RESEARCH. Though, this one, like Lawless Lawyer , seems to combine serious and comedic elements.  So, I felt that the cast of Justice should've made a return in a more comedic manner... Soompi A crazy thought that came into my head is that I might get five people out of Justice and into Cafe Minamdang. That is we could have a trio of swindlers where Choi Jin Hyuk, Park Sung Hoon (who was rather funny in Memorials after playing such a devious villain), and Ji Hye Won...

Currently Watching "Cafe Minamdang"

Image
I was running out of ideas for this blog. It's either Donbrothers , like Beast Morphers , has become my "I'm watching it so I can bash it but the yellow rangers save it!" guilty pleasure. I wanted to watch some suspense thrillers but I felt recent stress might make watching something else better. I watched Netflix's documentary series Web of Lies along with other criminal documentaries. Now, I decided to watch the ongoing series Cafe Minamdang . Okay, I've got a dumb reason with Oh Yeon Seo. Meanwhile, I wanted to watch the psychological thriller Hometown but I think I need to ease my mind. Some telenovelas can be too deep and can make you want to do some self-study. I ended up reading some criminology sites while watching the K-Drama Justice  on KissAsian fansubs.  The plot in itself seems to mix what I'm trying to get - romance, crime drama, and maybe some comic relief. The staff of AsianWiki spells the plot out as: Nam Han-Jun (Seo In-Guk) is a former ...

Seven Reasons Why I Also Enjoy Korean Legal Dramas

Image
I remembered one time when I wasn't exactly too keen on K-Drama. Well, maybe except for that one stupid moment in my college life when I secretly wanted to marry Kim Tae Hee (who was five years older than me) for her beauty . Though that crush wasn't as open as other crazy fanboy moments. I decided to try and do a bit of a throwback post to write why I even watched Korean legal dramas. Some of them have sci-fi elements (not much of my type) while others are rooted in realism. These are the types where I'd treat it like reading a good book for a college book report. What made me like them?  No eye candy is needed - it's all about the plot and acting! I was watching Pride and Prejudice to get this noticed. Sure, my first immersion into it was either Love Story in Harvard (and that's when I wanted to marry the lead actress) and got more into it with Kill It . However, Pride and Prejudice doesn't contain much eye candy for the men (Baek Jin Hee isn't pretty) and...

Just Finished "Who Rules The World" (Some Spoilers)

Image
SinergiaNews Who Rules the World just finished and I managed to wrap it up already. I actually got myself caught into how Yang Yang went from acting out a CGI image to this Wuxia role. The inter-clan wars and political marriages tend to summarize how the Yong State and Qing State may have this romance. Feng Lanxi (also known as Hei Fengxi) is the founder of Fountain Abode and the Second Prince of Yong State. Feng Xiyun (also known as Bai Fengxi) is a disciple of Tian Shuang Sect and Princess (and later ruler) of Qing State. Added is Huang Chao (Lai Yi) who is the Prince of Ji State and future emperor of China. There were some stories in Chinese folklore that try to show women can also do something great. Who could forget the legend of of Hua Mulan which has so many versions it's hard to keep track? Well, not that I'm endorsing the Mulan (2021) movie and would say you're better off watching  Mulan (2009) which is basically an adult version of the Disney cartoon. Actress Zhao...

Now Watching" "Who Rules The World"

Image
It's no secret that I'm watching several series at an IRREGULAR pace. I decided to do that in order to enjoy it at my own pace while struggling with real life. One ONGOING series I'm currently watching is Who Rules the World . I watched the historical fiction The Glamorous Imperial Concubine . I decided to watch some Wuxia for insane martial arts to watch. Yup, I'm a sucker for insane moves that would've already killed you in real life. Too bad watching some fight science hasn't given me the filming secrets of these insane series.   I remembered seeing Yang Yang in  King's Avatar  and  Love O2O.  This China series would be my third time being exposed to him. I'm now exposed to Zhao Lu Si for the first time. I admit she's kinda cute but not super pretty as some girls I've seen like Esther Liu and Liu Yifei. Still, Lu Si manages to pull it off nonetheless to get the job done. Yang Yang does seem to show some improvement granted his long acting care...

A Betrayal Within Fenix With The Deadman Conspiracy

Image
I guess readers know by now that I'm watching Kamen Rider Revice at a very irregular pace. You've got an evil guy on the organization in a good faction. Talk about a mole, a Judas Iscariot, or call it whateve ryou want. This time, Fenix does have a mole and it's the very director himself known as Hideo Akaishi (Jun Hashimoto). So, it turns out that Hideo is a founder of Deadmen and has betrayed HIS OWN TEAM. It's pretty much a plot device where you've got somebody supposedly on the side of good who backstabs you sooner or later. Sometimes, the person has good intentions but selfish intentions start to enter.  Episodes 19-20 which has Chigusa Yamagiri who was hired to be a double agent. Chigusa becomes a misguided person who just wants to do what's right but ends up doing it wrong. I dunno if it was a mistake to write her off. Granted, Kazusa Okuyama has her OWN SCHEDULE so I guess she doesn't want to stay in the show. It was interesting that her two-parter...
