"Victims' Game Season 2" Got More Brutal Adding Some Complex Plots

Image
What's on Netflix There was the first Victims' Game where the crew dealt with a secret death cult . I wouldn't be giving out spoilers since the real antagonist -- like in the first season -- is a Walking Spoiler. The first season was released during the Legacy Virus pandemic last April 2020. It kept me entertained after watching some Korean crime drama before the Legacy Virus took over the world. It was nice to have the original cast such as Joseph Chang (Zhang Xiaoquan) returning as his Fang Yijen and Tiffany Ann Hsu returning as Hsu Haiyin (the surname is spelled as Xu in Mainland Pinyin, take note this is Taiwanese Chinese). The first season investigated a death cult where the culprit turned herself in. The second season involves the gruesome deaths of people from an incident 15 years ago. A vengeful person is out there and they don't know who it is. I'll avoid spoiling the antagonist's identity but I'll give some minor spoilers. The antagonist gets so in...

Late Notice: I Finished "Victim's Game"

Image
So I did miss a post and I did finish the Taiwanese R-18 series Victim's Game . Not for the squeamish? Yes as the case is really so full of criminal scenarios. I have to admit that the series does have some issues with discrimination and victim playing hence the title. There's the conflict between aspie Fang Yi Jen and the badass reporter Hsu Hai Yin. There's always this case of getting into the root of mysterious crimes that happened. The situation is in a fictitious city called Ping Lin which doesn't exist in Taiwan. Everything starts with a faked death to some arson cases. Eventually, certain dark secrets do get unveiled. Yi Jen also has to deal with his estranged daughter along the way. In some of the flashbacks -- it's also revealed Yi Jen hasn't been that good of a father.  It does send chills when you realize that a suicidal cult is also on the move. Some people play the victim one way or another. Then you've got people "put out of their m...

Now Watching: Victims' Game

Image
Watching two of OCN's criminal drama masterpieces Kill It and Justice has my mind interested in legal dramas. I decided to watch the Netflix series Victim's Game which is a Taiwanese production. Yup, it's rated R-18 due to the violence and blood that it has. The plot has Joseph Chang act as a forensic scientist (named Fang Yi Jen) with an estranged daughter. Tiffany Hsu plays as a tough as nails journalist named Hsu Hai-Yin who gets tangled in the case. My first impressions are that the show is where the viewer's discretion is heavily advised. The dangerous setting of the series has a series of murders and mistaken identities. Just the first episode will tell you that you've got to prepare for the worst. There's the scene of a rotting corpse mistaken to be an aging singer and another arson case. Just the whole mystery behind a man and his estranged daughter while a tough-as-nails journalist gets in is something! Just a warning - if you're squeamish then d...
