How Xiaogang in Dolphin Bay Reflect On Myself

Image
Maybe one reason why Dolphin Bay is a hard rewatch was because, personal life kicked in.  I could relate to Xiaogang except I'm no musical genius.  Like Xiaogang I had to face an annoying foil, I fell for a cute mouse-like girl, played around with certain girls in fickleness and had a rival with a guy who looks like Xerya minus all the drama. While the girl was a well-to-do girl girl and she was no love child but her mouse-like features always got me like how Tianbian's did to Xiaogang.  She's wasn't pretty but I was really deeply into her.  She wasn't pretty nor appealing but her kindness caught my heart.  But at the same time, I always had my "sad love story" excuse.  At the same time, I started treating her better because she was so innocent, how could I mistreat her further?  She had indirectly showed me that my irrational outlook towards the opposite gender was wrong.  Then I started to fall for her but it never worked out. Those were th...

Looking at Dolphin Bay's Main Love Triangle: Xerya vs. Xiaogang

Image
Well it's not really time for me to discuss about this or is it?  I just felt seeing me and my best friend over a girl who he won.  So where does this love triangle begin? Xerya's well he's an unknown orphan who has no relation to the Hsu family believing himself to be the bastard son of the family.  In the past, he met Tian Bian at the St. Teresa' Orphanage where the two started a childhood friendship.  Tian Bian was the bastard child of the Hsu family's patriarch which disgraced the whole family.  Xerya kept searching for her from childhood.  Looking at it, they have known each other since childhood and Xerya well, is a better character than the other guy Xiaogang. On the other hand we have the Hsiaogang/Tianbian pairing.  So while Xerya is engaged to his adoptive sister Shanni but the real suspense was to who gets the girl. If you think of Xiaogang he's pretty crude and rude (he is a picture of me in a way) and Tianbian is meek and quiet. ...

Drama Review: At the Dolphin Bay

Image
Here's another Ambrose Xu drama and this what I'd say, I liked it the first time and disliked it the second time because part of me was hurt was it?  Well I did like a girl who looks like the lead and lost her to a guy who looks like the leading guy.  So yeah, I was "Xiao Gang" in the whole story.  The story starts with sad opening where we discover that the leading lady Tian Bian (whose original name we never know) is the lovechild if of the Hsu family and of course, this angers her grandfather who was irritated at his son's own infidelity.  So later, the Hsu family adopts an orphan who we know was never related to them namely Xerya and he becomes a Hsu but is trained to call his foster mother Li Hong as "big mother".  Li Hong has been bitter for a number of years due to her husband's infidelity.  Li Hong has one daughter Shan Ni played by Penny Lin. What intrigued me here is the competition between Xiaogang (acted by Wallace Huo), his lover Mand...

A Comparison of Peter, Eddie and Mr. Chow- Deric Wan's Role as Villains!

Image
Although Deric Wan is known to play mostly protagonist roles, but he also got to play antagonistic roles and I love how awesome this guy is in doing them!  Now for each of the three roles I've seen him... Pretty much he was VERY deadly in So Close, perhaps the most dangerous role he's played and my favorite villain role from him.  So, he gets his brother assassinated, he commits adultery with his sister-in-law behind the scenes then they are later seen as lovers (they planned it TOGETHER) and the worse is how he really could get the job done well.  So he manages to get Shu Qi killed and Karen Mok arrested though everything turns against him.  In fact, this character was so evil he had to die at the end of the movie! In Dolphin Bay, his character as Eddie the REAL antagonist of the show that showed up later as Man Qing's manager.  While he seemed a good guy to the people, he was always out there to make sure Xiao Gang doesn't succeed EVEN if it means cheatin...

Dolphin Bay's Sad Song

Image
Well I just got to admit that with Dolphin Bay, I really was on the losing side (siding with Xiao Gang) and during that night of the concert, proved to be when my bet was already slipping into oblivion.  Well losing the bet meant this- wah I lost.  Well yet in the end, the song had a nice melody or to at least, my character lost gracefully.  All I could say when Xiao Gang looked at Tian Bian for the last time, I felt the same way he did with some girl.  But still... this song is still nice.

Dolphin Bay Rivalry

Image
I remembered Dolphin Bay's rivalry between Ambrose Xu and Wallace Huo. To be plain honest, I find myself as the losing party over the winning one. Hard to admit it but I have a friend that sort of looks like Ambrose Xu but weirdly has Vanness Wu's complexion. Each one had a different character portrayed- Ambrose Xu plays as the main lead who is adopted into a family that he has no relations to and the childhood friend of Angela Zhang. Wallace Huo is quite "antagonistic" in many ways and honestly, I remembered my severe misadventure with that friend of mine over a girl who looks like a rat. There is always MUCH emotional punch between the two characters and the whole irritating part for me is that WHY does the character of Wallace Huo hit me so much? Ah maybe it's because I have that really BAD temper which Ambrose Xu doesn't have which reminds me of my friend who looks like him. I remembered the times when I cheered so much to dance wheneve...
