Just Watched The Netflix Movie "The Yin-Yang Master: Dream Of Eternity"

Image
After watching quite a hefty serving of Korean crime series -- I think I might go back to watching Wuxia and Xianxia series now though I might want to focus first on the movie. Since today is the 24th day of the 12th lunar month -- I decided to do a bit of a Merry Mortal Khristmas Review instead. I decided to watch the movie that premiered on Netflix Philippines called The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity which has Wuxia/Xianxia regular Allen Deng (who really resembles Korean actor Park Seo Jun) and Mark Chao as Yin-Yang practitioners Bo Ya and Qing Ming respectively. There will be some spoilers but I'd try not to get too much out. Just remember don't confuse this movie with the other movie known as  Yin-Yang Master which stars Chen Kun as the Hanyo known as Qing Ming.  The movie itself seems like the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon franchise hit with Doctor Strange or other similar franchises. The portals may make you think of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy . For me, it doe...

Movie Review: Like Someone in Love

Image
So this is really one film I watched for Rin Takanashi but overall, it's pretty bizarre and just didn't get my interest.  The role of Rin here is the hot high end prostitute Akiko who is dating Noriaki.  Really, I just thought the morals here are pretty loose.  So Akiko gets sent to be a client to an elderly guy named Takashi a much older professor who is more interested in making dinner than intimacy (phew) but still, disgusting considering the age gap. This results to a series of complication which makes me think about the real condition of people here.  For Akiko why does she choose to be a prostitute than choose any other job?  Does she have any budgeting problems?  I guess the whole film does highlight the degeneracy issue of just anybody, no race involved.  I would say that even as a fan of Rin Takanashi, I didn't like her taking that role! For Noriaki, it really is something that he doesn't know he's dating a prostitute and he later discove...

Movie Review: Super Hero Taisen

Image
I had just finished viewing Super Hero Taisen and seriously, I'll really write a review that's really what I'd call a series of mixed emotions that came along the way.  At first, I was pretty excited at the concept of Super Sentai and Kamen Riders joining together, I mean Decade's crossover with Shinkenger succeeded where Saban's Mashed Rider failed but apparently this film is what I'd call as if Shoji Yunemura really teaming up with a bunch of morons to write this and for Shinichiro Shirakura, he just wants to make everything look cool when in fact it's nothing more than childish fan wars in the beginning.  This is a lengthy review on how much I really hate this crossover! Nice aesthetics, nice concepts but eventually it's ruined by bad writing to a huge extent!  It's just like Operation Overdrive's got a nice concept of the Corona Aurora but ends up being one of the worst seasons because of the way it was written.  Now only if we can all avo...

Series Review: Love Storm

Well I never thought I would do this but I should start writing some bad reviews as well.  Before I watch Faiz or do a review, I would like to do a review on the disaster that is Love Storm.  It's so bad I can't really watch it.  It stars Vivian Xu as the spoiled brat Jia Le, Vic Chou as Liu Ying Fong and Ken Chu as Bao Long.  Sure the story has some interesting twists but all I can say poor acting ruined the story which could have been done better.  And also the story is pretty stupid the start with.  So where do I begin?  It starts with Jia Le seeing her aunt run away with all people a MAFIA?  Stupid.  And it does get dumber when Jia Le is one obnoxious brat which the situation is made worse by Vivian Xu's very low quality acting, Vic Chou that time was hardly convincing (he was still on the way to being polished) and Ken Chu is pretty corny and not convincing here.  If I'm to talk, Jia Le does get annoying with her talking, acting, UG...
