Hit The Beat, Hit Your Beat With Patrick Star's Version Of Kamen Rider Hibiki

Image
It's known how Kamen Rider Hibiki had its controversial second half. Remember when the producer was changed from Shigenori Takatera to Shinichiro Shirakura and the writer was changed from plain boring Tyuyoshi Kida (who'd handle Kamen Rider Wizard making it another season I dislike) to Toshiki Inoue. Now you might want to brace yourself because Patrick Star is playing the drums. All that's needed is for the cast of Hibiki to play the instrumental of "Twinkle, Twinkle Patrick Star"... Yup, this song would have probably "helped" the World of Hibiki and I'm being sarcastic. Hehe! It turns out that A.R. Asumi is currently Kamen Rider Hibiki. It even has me thinking WTF as if forcing a child version of Kamen Rider Kiva wasn't enough . Is this the second time that we'd get a forced insertion of "Justin Stewart" from Power Rangers Turbo? I guess people know by now I compare Yonemura to Jonathan Tzachor and Bruce Kalish in more...

Why I Think Yasuko Kobayashi Could Have Been Better for Kamen Rider Hibiki's Second Half

Image
I was thinking about how Toshiki Inoue wrote stuff.  So maybe he brought conflict to Hibiki but looks like the Shirakura/Inoue tandem isn't that good. Looking at how Hibiki was under Inoue's writing its second half it did suffer some problems like adding that annoying jerk who really irritates everyone.  Well she has more similarities to Inoue than differences but here's where she stands out over Toshiki Inoue are the following: Doucebag protagonists in her shows.  Maybe you saw Kamen Rider Ryuki which came before Kamen Rider Faiz.  You had to face Shinji, Renn and Shuichi but none of them can annoy you like Masato in Faiz.  I don't think that annoying kid Kiriya would be that annoying.  Looking at her writing the douches, they are not all that annoying compared to those in Kamen Rider Faiz. In Super Sentai, most of Yasuko Kobayashi's finale arcs are pretty well-written to passable most of the time compared to Inoue's in the long run. Okay she wrote tha...

Series Review: Kamen Rider Hibiki

Image
Well it's time for another Kamen Rider review and I'm pretty mixed on this one. I did like the concept of music as weaponry, the Oni Riders and the Makamou.  But this series was controversial because from episodes 1-29 he had Tyuyoshi Kida/Shinji Ooshi tandem and producer Shigenori Takatera and later we have Toshiki Inoue/Shoji Yonemura tandem and Shinichiro Shirakura taking over.  So what are my thoughts?  For some the whole Hibiki show itself presents the unusual world of Kamen Riders battling giant Makamou monsters of different breed- while not large enough to bring a giant robot battle, they are still large nonetheless.  The idea of Hibiki using the drum was for me, pretty much cool at the same time strange.  The narration of Asumi were interesting and I wonder why they removed it by episode 31.  So pretty much, there were interesting Riders that came into the show with much of Japanese stuff, in short this show is very Japanese like Kakuranger, Hurric...

Kamen Rider Hibiki: My Thoughts So Far

Image
Kamen Rider Hibiki is a weird yet somehow appealing series.  Yeah, I love weird stuff, I'm pretty weird myself.  Now for some of my thoughts and I've reached the Inoue/Yonemura half.  Well for some of my thoughts on Hibiki while I'm now in episode 33: The Makamou concept is pretty creepy and has some nightmare fuel.  I wish more Riders will have that.  In this case, this is pretty Japanese and I love all the huge monsters involved which the Riders have their creative way of defeating them.  For me the whole concept of music as a weapon is cool while some people find it weird.  Sometimes a teamwork of Hibiki and his fellow Riders happen in order to defeat more powerful Makamou. During the second half, we have the infamous staff change.  From episodes 1-29 we are introduced to the pretty "musical-like" scenario and some kanji appearing onscreen.  Shigenori Takatera and writers Shinji Ooshi and Tyuyoshi Kida were fired.  In effect, T...

Just Started with Kamen Rider Hibiki

Image
Aside from real life busy affairs and other distractions (yup I haven't found a good Chinese kung fu seriest o watch as of late) so I decided to watch Kamen Rider Hibiki.  So this was the era of controversial mid-season change considering Kida was taken over by Inoue and Takatera by Shirakura (who I have this like/dislike relationship).  So here's what I think... the show has a "slow start" but it does get interesting with the Makamou concept and I love that drum ability.  So far, I do love his design and there seems to be just that "aura of peace" this show has to me.  Well I'll just have to sit to see what the midseason changes will bring...
