A Betrayal Within Fenix With The Deadman Conspiracy

 
I guess readers know by now that I'm watching Kamen Rider Revice at a very irregular pace. You've got an evil guy on the organization in a good faction. Talk about a mole, a Judas Iscariot, or call it whateve ryou want. This time, Fenix does have a mole and it's the very director himself known as Hideo Akaishi (Jun Hashimoto). So, it turns out that Hideo is a founder of Deadmen and has betrayed HIS OWN TEAM. It's pretty much a plot device where you've got somebody supposedly on the side of good who backstabs you sooner or later. Sometimes, the person has good intentions but selfish intentions start to enter. 

Episodes 19-20 which has Chigusa Yamagiri who was hired to be a double agent. Chigusa becomes a misguided person who just wants to do what's right but ends up doing it wrong. I dunno if it was a mistake to write her off. Granted, Kazusa Okuyama has her OWN SCHEDULE so I guess she doesn't want to stay in the show. It was interesting that her two-parter role has had more meat than what Nao Nagasawa was allowed to have as a guest star in Kamen Rider W. I still felt Weather Dopant's plot was ruined by unnecessary fanservice. Chigusa discovers corruption within Fenix which causes her to be misguided. So, Chigusa's character is more of a misguided person than an actual villain. The plot would slowly but surely develop revealing that to no surprise - there's a mole and a Judas Iscariot within the organization.

The recent episodes have shown signs that something wasn't right about Hideo. Hideo could care less about what happens to those under Fenix. In short, it's time to THROW HIM OUT. The Deadmen somehow had a temporary defeat. However, it's revealed Hideo is actually MUCH OLDER than he looks. Hideo's aim is to revive his master Giff in the world. Giff also turns out to be an ancestor of the Igarashi sibling for some bizarre reason. 

Some weird blogger's note before I close (spoilers so read at your OWN risk) in regards to the betrayal...

This recent plot has me thinking of the typical plot of having a Judas Iscariot within your organization. We could talk about how it's really a common trope in writing when a person you thought was good was a traitor. The person may have some good intentions but is also very self-serving to a certain extent.You can talk about how Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars was supposedly on the side of good but betrayed the Republic and the Jedi. Emperor Palpatine was secretly a Sith lord and orchestrated the whole mess while appearing as a hero. Some people join heroic factions for SELFISH purposes. Though, I'd like to focus more on the Toku side which obviously has copied a lot of ideas from way back into the past. 

In Mirai Sentai Timeranger, the real antagonist was Captain Ryuya Asami. I felt Ryuya was a third wheel in the conflict. Yasuko Kobayashi probably wanted to add layers so she makes Ryuya the final villain who allowed the Londarz to escape to the past, allowed Naoto Takizawa to die in his place, and even hid his real fears from his teammates. Some fans even categorize him as "Pure Evil" though he just wanted to live and not take over the world. I think he's a pretty gray villain who did inexcusable stuff. I felt Ryuya was pretty much a framework for future similar villains. The guy's plot is just too dark for Power Rangers' TV-Y7-FV rating. Power Rangers Time Force decided not to do the same thing with Alex (who did return as an a**hole) since that would totally ruin the mood of the show. 

Kamen Rider Faiz had Masato Kusaka who was a real pain. Masato was pretty much a villain at his own right as he had selfish motives. It's disgusting how Masato Kusaka had a selfish desire for Mari Sonoda. Masato was an extremely crazy character who wanted to wipe out all Orphnochs while he used Orphnoch DNA on himself. I felt Kusaka was almost similar to Ryuya in Timeranger - a villain that got killed in the worst undignified way. Ryuya was accidentally killed by Ayase. Masato had his neck broken by Yuji Kiba. It was pretty much well-deserved and his villainy is downright disturbing. Faiz had a guest role by the late Masaki Tachi (as Swordfish Orphnoch in 31-32) who played Radiguet in Chojin Sentai Jetman. I wonder how Tachi reacted to Masato Kusaka's character. Kohei Murakami does one fine job as a villain.

Kamen Rider Kabuto has Masato Mishima. Another villain named Masato, isn't it? Like Masato Kusaka, Masato Mishim was supposedly on the side of good but had selfish motives. In this case, Masato is pretty much your trusted executive at ZECT. However, while ZECT was fighting the Worms, his real aim was world domination. Masato Kusaka was feigning loyalty while he had his own agenda. Eventually, Masato Mishima's devolving humanity turned him into the Gryllus Worm. Kudos to Tomihisa Yuge for actually making yet another despicable villain so despicable.

Kamen Rider OOO may be lighthearted but it had some disturbing moments. Dr. Kiyoto Maki is a sociopath who killed his OWN FAMILY. It's pretty weird how he could've been Nomura from the movie Killers. I can't get into my mind which pieces of fiction or real-life incidents that inspired the writing of these characters. Dr. Maki proves himself to be a more evil version fo Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants if Haim Saban Cake Boss is Mr. Krabs. Granted, Cake Boss is greedy so it's possible that Dr. Maki is underpaid. I can't help but also compare him to Master Org from Power Rangers Wild Force due to his envy also fueling his WILLING further descent into darkness. 

I was wondering will Giff ultimately be the final boss and is Hideo just an accomplice? This week's episode has Hideo reveal that he injected himself with Giff's DNA. Hideo does show signs of being glike the characters I just revealed. I'm probably going to return to this one. Granted, I'm probably not over with Kamen Rider yet while I'm not too pleased with Donbrothers. Once again, episode reviews ain't happening and I'll just drop my random thoughts.
