The Badly Written Bad Ending Of "Oh My Ladylord" VS. The Well-Written Bad Ending For "Kill It"

Image
It's already expected that Bi Soo will die after 49 days, right? Yet, there was some teaser that he'd die after 49 years. WTF man... I thought about how badly written or how you're hopeful for a good ending the finale then poof... Bi Soo disappears as scheduled. Was Joo Jin Kook trolling the audiences with his script? Maybe yes, maybe no. But I find it distasteful to give a glimpse of hope that Bi Soo would live but no - we were trolled and then he finally DISAPPEARED. The plot twist was that the "angel" who saved Bi Soo was his biological father. Yup, Bi Soo's father died before he was born. His mother married his stepfather. Then we see his mother die. It turns out that Bi Soo was given extra time to at least take care of his mother before she'd pass away from cancer. I'm really finding the whole thing weird. I also find the whole thing haphazardly written. Not to mention - I wonder are the producers and directors of this show simply using Jin A Nana...

Now Watching "Goodbye My Princess"

Image
It doesn't look like I'm really out of my Super Sentai break any time soon! Right now, I decided to watch some crazy Wuxia martial arts series called Goodbye My Princess . After watching a couple of Xianxia series, I decided to for Wuxia. The series talks about the sad love story between Li Chengyen (Chen Xingxu) and Qiu Xiaofeng (Peng Xiaoran). There's the cruel world of politics and preposterous martial arts to watch in this one. The aim of a political marriage seems to have more than just that. There seems to be a brewing conspiracy while a tragedy is about to happen. Part of the politics is Li Chengyen trying to rise into power. It's revealed early only that he realizes his "mother" the empress is only his stepmother. Chengyen's jealous stepmother poisoned the concubine (Chengyen'smother) and took him as her own. What's interesting to know is that Chengyen's stepmother is acted by longtime actress Siqin Gaowa who was a multi-awarded actress...

Just Finished Watching "Eternal Love: Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms"

Image
I finally decided to finish watching Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms . The story can get complicated when you consider three lifetimes that each must face, the Ghost Tribe's intrigue, and the trials that lead to the events.  For acting, I'd say Mark Chao does a good job of being two characters - Mo Yuan and Ye Hua who are two separate characters. I'm amazed at the camera trick that done with Mark playing the two characters. One is the God of War while the other is the Crown Prince Ye Hua. The last time I saw him was in the Taiwanese police drama Black and White  with Vic Chou as the stoic cop. Here, both characters are mature and wise beyond their years. His trial as a mortal begins because he ended up killing the beasts that guarded the divine fungal grass.  Yang Zi takes the complex role of three identities. One, she plays "Mulan" when her character as Bai Qian assumed the identity of Su Yin. Su Yin is her male alter-ego in hopes of learning of diffe...

Just Finished Watching "Vincenzo"

Image
The finale of Vincenzo hit yesterday and I don't blame people for making a comparison to the "hit" Pinoy TV drama known as Ang Probinsyano . I decided not to do episode reviews like I do becaus eI want to take things easy. So, what are my thoughts after 20 episodes? There will be some (minor) spoilers ahead so please divert if you haven't completed it. If not, please read ahead with my thoughts. Just remember these are just my personal opinions so feel free to disagree. I think the love story here isn't that well-developed,. Sometimes, it seems that Jeon Yeo Bin's character as Atty. Hong Cha Yong tends to be used as either eye candy for the men or the "necessary" love interest. Maybe, I was too used to how Pride and Prejudice managed to flesh out the romance of Atty. Goo Dong Chi (Choi Jin Hyuk) and Pros. Han Yeol Moo (Baek Jin Hee) manages to get some steps while trying to find the real culprit of the case. Here, I felt some scenes were rather force...

Still Watching "Oh My Ladylord"

Image
As said,  I decided not to do episode reviews as much as possible since I'm watching this show at my own pace along with Vincenzo , Law School , and Eternal Love: Ten Miles of Peach Blossom at my own pace. So, I tend to binge-watch the shows whenever I can. So far, I decided to watch Oh My Ladylord also at my own pace. I was thinking of the plots where Bi Soo gets into a rather friendly love triangle with Yu Jin over Joo-In. It does have some comic experiences (but not slapstick) to go along with it. I do feel like criticizing the negative aspect of Asian culture of not being that open about one's condition. It's really a cliche in East Asian drama to hide one's condition until it's too late. I wish Bi Soo's mother would've been more open that she may die any time soon. Bi Soo realizes it but pretends not to know as not to worry his mother. Bi Soo's mother just wants to spend more time with her son but doesn't want to tell him about her cancer. Also,...

Now Watching "Law School" (KDrama) On Netflix

Image
Well, I do have another good reason to take a break from Super Sentai (until further notice) because of this new KDrama known as Law School . The Asian Wiki describes the plot as follows: A professor at a prestigious law school and his students get involved in an unprecedented case. Yang Jong-Hoon (Kim Myung-Min) is a former prosecutor. He is now a professor at a prestigious law school. He is straightforward and tends to unleash biting remarks. Students don't like him because of this, but Yang Jong-Hoon does not care what his students think of him. Yang Jong-Hoon is focused on cultivating personnel for the law field, members who will be able to contribute meaningfully. Professor Kim Eun-Sook (Lee Jung-Eun) is his only colleague that he can speak openly with. Kang Sol (Ryoo Hye-Young) and Han Joon-Hwi (Kim Beom) are first-year law school students. Kang Sol barely got into law school. She comes from a poor family background. At school, she is surrounded by students who are smart an...

Netflix Movie "Night In Paradise"

Image
I usually don't feel like watching Korean movies but when I do - I do have weird reasons. I decided to watch this movie for a dumb reason namely the hottie Jeon Yeo Bin. The movie in itself is NOT for children or for the squeamish. The story has two people crossing paths namely Park Tae Go (Um Tae Go) and Jae Yeon (Jeon Yeo Bin) in a series of conspiracies. One is a guy who's lost his sister and niece after crossing the gangsters. Meanwhile, Jae Yeon is a terminally ill woman who lost her will to live, she also lost a lot of her loved ones then she becomes so badass later in the movie.    Now, we've got actor Cha Seung Won playing the main antagonist, Executive Ma. I do love just how Seung Won's over-the-top performance does what it does. Seung Won was a protagonist in You're All Surrounded and was seemingly antagonistic in Korean Odyssey . In here, it was fun to see him as the main antagonist and a very ruthless one at that. The guy's involvement in the chaos i...
