When Kamen Rider Veteran Eiji Akaso Fights Off Zombies WITHOUT His Kamen Rider Powers

There's really life after Kamen Rider, right? I remembered when Sota Fukushi wasn't able ot show up in Kamen Rider Zi-O because he was filming Bleach. It was even shown at the end up of the episode that only a stunt double was used. I haven't seen the nude comedy where both Atsuhiko Inukai from Kamen Rider Build and Ryo Ryusei from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. Fortunately, Eiji Akaso himself didn't get into the humiliating role that his co-star Atsuhiko had. Instead, Eiji himself stars in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead which is a horror comedy. Watching it late at night wasn't scary but FUNNY.

Eiji stars as Akira Tendo - an overworked office drone who is hardly appreciated. With him are Mai Shiraishi (as Shizuka Mikazuki) and Shuntaro Yanagi (as Kenichiro Ryuuzaki). What's interesting is to see Nomura's actor from Killers show up as a bastard who uses every crisis for his opportunity. Kazuki Kitamura knows how to scare people even in an absurd comedy. Kazuki's role as the greedy Gonzo Kosugi (and his end is really worse than what the serious movie Killers could do) was truly a delight to watch.

I really like the references dropped here and there. Akira mentions Alice from the Resident Evil movie continuity with Shizuka's loner character. The movie-only character Alice was pretty much a loner. There are references to both Superman and Spider-Man. The Netflix description does attribute Eiji as a Kamen Rider star. It'd be funny if Toei allowed Netflix to borrow the Kamen Rider Cross-Z suit for laughs. Too bad there aren't direct references to Kamen Rider as far as the film goes. I think Gonzo himself should've had soldiers that go "eeeeee". I even wished that Akira Hamada made a cameo since he was Mr. Nanba in Build

It's hard NOT to wish Eiji had his powers from Build. Just imagine if he was using a motorcycle or he had the help of his fellow characters from Build to help him survive. Instead, Eiji is an ordinary civilian who wants to become a superhero. It's not known what caused the zombie disease. Since this was a movie, it just didn't have the chance to flesh out as much as the TV series Love You as the World Ends with Ryoma Takeuchi. The movie has a comedic tone (with some serious issues) unlike what Love You as the World Ends presented. I think Love You as the World Ends did reveal the origin of the virus. Here, it's just treated as some random pandemic that hit worldwide.

I was entertained by the movie. Yes, but I wanted it to be a TV series instead of JUST. A. MOVIE. Though, who knows if there'll be a second movie to cover it up or not. But I'd recommend this crazy movie if you want a good scare without being really scared too much.
