Thrillers to thrillers as Vagabond seems to focus on betrayals at this moment. I would admit that there's some predictability going on especially with who's been behind some of the major incidents in the show. Last week had a lot of tense moments. Dal Gun's life has been frequently put in danger thanks to Lily's orders by Reiko ahem Jessica of Super Science Network ahem Johnson & Mark. The whole episode does reveal one predictable element in the show.
As expected, there is a mole inside the National Intelligence Service (NIS). There's some interrogation about a woman whose husband is purportedly dead but he's revealed to be still alive and hiding. Just who is this mole? Well, it's quite predictable. You may be able to get the answer when you realize somebody's actions such as shredding away important evidence is already a clue. Just read on to find out who is this mole.
Dal Gun is already a man targetted by John & Mark as a liability to their plans. Lily seems to have been dismissed though I hope it's not the last we'd see of that femme fatale. I wonder would Lily be Hae Ri's rival in the show or what? Hae Ri does have a lot of cool moves which I think she and Lily should engage each other in one-on-one fight scenes. There's a new agent who's nicknamed Shadow and he's moving to murder Dal Gun. Dal Gun is in the safehouse which isn't very safe either. The ramyeon (ramen) was drugged leading to yet more intense fight scenes.
What makes Dal Gun actually amazing is that for an idiot -- he sure does trap the killer. I love the one-on-one intense fight scenes. I'm actually getting feelings of getting scared as the killer tries to use a knife. A very drugged Hae Ri does manage to kill the killer. Dal Gun gets the phone and they try to find out who is behind the phone. This really gets a very predictable thing leaking out. The mole in the NIS is none other than Chief Min! Chief Min's movements has had me suspicious that he's not just incompetent but also very corrupt. Hae Ri stages a fake death scene to fool them but it wouldn't be long. Somehow, Chief Min of the NIS is too predictable. Remember how he keeps dismissing the investigation and just under whose watch did the important video file get deleted?!
Now, here's a bit of Tae Woong here. I really love how Tae Woong somehow does play the weasel similar to Hojo Toru in Kamen Rider Agito. He has Hae Ri's best friend Hwa Sook does something right. They purposely let the supposed "widow" (Sang Mi) of the co-pilot Kim run free. In reality, they've bugged her and traced her. This exposes the worst suspicions to be what they are -- that the plane crash was indeed a staged attack. The "widow" goes into a chapel that serves as a facade for criminal activities. It's shameless really how the chapel gets used for such evil purposes. They trace her, they try to arrest her then a huge truck hits them out of nowhere. Then the "widow" is "rescued" by Jessica's goons. Coincidence? It's a pretty good attack scheme and Tae Woong (who Hae Ri has a crush on) enters into the Intensive Care Unit. It's really a well-set-up scheme if you ask me!
I love the chase scenes that happen in this episode. We discover that Chief Min is a guy with an expensive lifestyle. He does mention he loves being paid to do nothing. Isn't that a picture of a corrupt politician? He also is connected to Johnson & Mark and I think he's the one going by the name of Shadow. The chase between him and Hae Ri is something. Right now, I wish Hae Ri did more than just vent out her frustration -- I wish she managed to wound that bastard! Chief Min proves he's pretty much the Stupid Evil type. I like how Hae Ri raises up the fact that he has three daughters and about blood money. He does manage to escape but I'd expect him to get terminated sooner or later.
A bit of a twist. It looks like faked deaths have been going on. As the reporter who was supposedly killed two episodes ago is very much alive. So what's the job of the reporter? Did he purposely fake his death to deceive Dal Gun? Did he purposely give some files to bait Dal Gun? I can't wait to see what's about to happen next week if you ask me!
