The "Seven Relics Of Ill Omen" Aka The Seven Heart Tablets

Sorry that I'm "out of date" with the Kamen Rider reviews. Yep, I'm probably still in hangover mode or that there's so much that Netflix has to offer. I decided to check out this fantasy series called The Seven Relics of Ill Omen. This series is a live adaptation by the female web novelist Wei Yu. This writing revolves around Chinese exorcism drama and science fiction. These relics contain a dangerous parasitic lifeform in each and every one of them. They crashed at the Fengzi Ridge where they found them.

The Phoenix Squad was formed as a five-man squad (think of it like Super Sentai). We have our important characters, namely:

  • Mu Dai (Liu Haocun), who is the main character. She is a capable young woman who does the puzzle-solving. Much of her life is a Walking Spoiler, so please watch the film first. She has her schizophrenia going on.
  • Luo Ren (Song Weilong) is the leading man and the male protagonist. He's the field leader but Mu Dai is the overall focus. He has a mysterious past linked to the Xiaoshang River incident.
  • Jiang Zhao (Ao Ruipeng) is the muscle-and-emotional stakeholder of the group.
  • Yan Hongsha (Wang Yiting) joins the group after she was caught in a paranormal crisis.
  • Cao Yuanhua (Zhang Yichi) provides the grounded perspective. He's also Mu Dai's early ally early on.
They are organized by Professor Shen Kun (Yang Haoyu).

The recurring main antagonist is a polyglot. British Korean actress Clara Lee plays as Lie Pao (Leopard) the ongoing antagonist. It was fun to have her around due to her hammy performance. Having a Korean who can speak English and Chinese is amazing. It should be noted that we do have a hidden antagonist, I'll call the Mysterious Benefactor who has puppetted everyone. It's difficult to talk abotu the Mysterious Benefactor without spoiling the series! However, the real enemy in itself is hard to talk about. You have to look into each of the seven relics as they pervert seven emotions to negativity. These emotions,

The series has its fair share of CGI and X-Files. This series has its flaws but I would certainly recommend this series if you're a sci-fi lover.
