An Incredibly Accurate Anita Mui Biopic TV Series Might Probably Trigger Both Anita's Family AND The CCP

I remember watching Anita (2021) on Disney+. I had my complaints about how Louise Wong's impersonations of Anita's concert scenes were BLAH! I discovered a real Mainland China production that was even worse -- it was called Mei Yan Fang Fei in 2007. Anita (2021) created a fictionalized relationship for the late Anita Mui named Goto Yuki. The other one presented a scene where she and Andy Lau supposedly had a romance. However, that's far from reality! Both projects made me wish for a near perfect Anita biopic -- making me imagine if Mei Yan Fang Fei, last 2007, was a Taiwanese production. It would've probably tried to stay true like Le Grande Chaumierre Violette -- perhaps even take notes of Anita's interview about her toxic mother and brothers.
I reimagined what if Anita Mui Fei wasn't a Mainland production but a Taiwanese production. They might reduce the budget or the number of episodes. I imagined this what-if scenario, where a faithful retelling of Anita's story happened. It wouldn't have the nonsense of fabricated romance with a non-existent person. It would also have the most sensitive topics, such as Operation Yellowbird and the 1989 Democracy for China concert. This might include some footage of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Anita was absolutely devoted to the cause of democracy in China. She sang "Bloodstained Glory" (Xuè rǎn de fēngcǎi) to honor the martyrs at Tiananmen Square. It's a real deep BS to remove one of her greatest deeds in her short life. She was an organizer of the Concert for Democracy incident. That's why I thought of Mei Yan Fang Fei was done by a Taiwanese company -- it may have been shorter, but also accurate!
The imagined cast and possible consequences
I remember watching some scenes of the real Mei Yan Fang Fei. Thankfully, I never watched the whole BS production as it even showed Anita DYING ON STAGE rather than DYING IN THE HOSPITAL (real life event). Alice Chan's portrayal of Anita's musical is just BLAH! The scenes made me wish Jolin performed Anita's musical numbers. However, given how INACCURATE Mei Yan Fang Fei was then it deserves all the robotic performances. I even felt the same went for Anita (2021) when Louise Wong became Anita. Neither of them deserved to have a real good performance! Jolin's voice is higher that Anita's. Anita damaged her vocal cords from that abusive childhood!
My fantasized cast would have the following supporting Jolin:
- Jo Tsai (Cai Minwen) as the late Ann Mui.
- Michelle Chen as the late Teresa Teng
- Vic Zhou as the late Leslie Cheung
- Jerry Yan as Andy Lau
- Moon Wang as Anita's greedy mother, Tam Mei Kam
- Takeshi Kaneshiro as Masahiko Kondo
- Angus Hsieh and Jampel Tang as Anita's USELESS older brother
The controversy could start off with the Mui family, especially with my dream cast. Angus and Jampel have played bad boy roles. I read this blog post and thought about why I even thought of Moon as Anita's mother. Fans of Meteor Garden would've known Moon acted as Shan Cai's greedy mother -- the one who always tries to get rich fast! Moon would've probably pulled off a performance that will be despicable enough to expose the kind of person Mei Kam was. Angus and Jampel, known for bad boy roles, would've perfectly fit as Anita's useless older brothers. One of them Mui Tak Ming died of cancer. Mui Kai Ming was later disinherited by his mother Mei Kam.
The controversy could start first with the MUI FAMILY. Mei Kam aka Mrs. Mui as Anita would call her -- wouldn't like Moon's unflattering portrayal. The Mui brothers would probably not like Angus and Jampel portraying them in such a negative light. Moon would have to go from comedy to serious -- even try to make Mrs. Mui look all too hateful. I could imagine Mrs. Mui would probably throw stuff at the TV screen for a start. The brothers would probably have thrown their TV sets too. It would be because Anita's interview became the basis for everything -- even creative liberties that don't go against the OVERALL flow of the story! Moon will not be funny, but she will probably give her VERY BEST to warn others about Mrs. Mui.

Jolin could get into trouble with the Mui Family. One can imagine Jolin playing as a dying Anita and singing her last will and testament. That scene alone could trigger Mrs. Mui's trauma of just getting a trust fund. The real-life brothers wouldn't just go after Angus and Jampel. They would want to go after Jolin for her portraying their late sister in the most accurate way.
Jolin singing the song "Bloodstained Glory" as Anita would be a real bullseye target. Jolin could become the NUMBER ONE TARGET of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Jolin would be blacklisted. One can imagine the Madonna of Taiwan getting her name struck out of the China database. If China can cancel their own celebrities, then they can DO THE SAME FOR ANY CELEBRITY OUTSIDE THEIR COUNTRY. Jolin would probably be shamed by the Mainland government. However, Jolin may get support from Mainlanders for telling Anita's story.
The other actors could soon follow. One can imagine that everyone will be GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION -- EVEN CAMEO CHARACTERS. The chain will be rather long whether one wants to admit it or not. Either way, it was probably for the best this hypothetical scene never happened!
