Kamen Rider Saber Episodes 7-8: The Avalon Arc

Well, here's another Kamen Rider Saber review which I'd like to review the Avalon Arc. The story this time combines King Arthur with the story of Perseus with the Medusa monster. The two weeks are dedicated to finding the power of Excalibur.

Episode seven is connected to episode six where Touma wants to find the gateway to Avalon. As it turns out that Avalon is another dimension. 13 stories are connected together which would lead to the mystical land. If you ask me - I'm really ready to kick down Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger to another level of low after watching the Avalon Arc.

On the other hand, Rintaro has visions of his mentor acted by Masashi Mikami - also in blue! Throwback to Boukenger? Well, I guess Boukenger is probably still causing hype even after ten years. I mean, Masashi did guest-star in Kamen Rider Drive with Haruka Suenga (who married before making the guest role).

The story also links to Medusa who also has her two other sisters. In Greek mythology, Medusa has two sisters named Sthenno and Euryale. In the myths, Perseus beheaded Medusa and there were two more sistesr which manages to work itself towards the second half of the arc.

The power of the Excalibur or the Dragon Arthur is no walk in the park. This seems to be a nod or throwback in RPGs where certain more powerful weapons for later levels are retrieved by defeating certain bosses.

An elemental monster shows up after the Dragon Arthur is taken in the first half. Though the story of the Excalibur arc is just beginning.

Meanwhile, Mei Sudo manages to follow our heroes. Any friend of the good Kamen Riders is a friend of the Sword of Logos? Hopefully, Mei doesn't get played for laughs or for hurts like what happened to Megumi in Kamen Rider Ryuki or Ben and Betty from Power Rangers Beast Morphers

Meanwhile, there's more to Kamen Rider Calibur's betrayal 15 years ago. I do hope that the writers will figure out how to work things out.

An interesting bit is this cameo by Oren and Hideyasu (from Kamen Rider Gaim) with this hilarious cameo. Okay, I won't throw in some woke jokes here. They're too terrified and they turn to stone and are restored back to normal. Apparently, most Heisei Riders are connected to each other in a way while others are self-contained. Though, most Showa Riders were connected to each other while Kamen Rider BLACK

Ryo Ogami turns into stone to allow the others to escape. He does somehow provide Touma a lesson in how to win the battle.

Okay, another Metal Hero throwback? I remembered how Kamen Rider Zero-One threw in a random giant robot called Breaking Mammoth. So, I wonder will this new giant robot just be another failed gimmick? Hopefully not. A scene from Armageddon is somewhat inserted and this new awkward power does define why Kamen Rider Saber is named as such.

Next week a new Kamen Rider will arrive. Though I wonder if we'll see more evil Kamen Riders appear soon since this show is probably meant to be another Rider War!
