Kamen Rider Saber Episode 02 - The Water Lion Arrives

Last week's episode (though please don't expect for weekly reviews from me) had the mysterious warrior arriving. Turns out that it's Rintaro Shindo (Kamen Rider Blades, not to be confused with Kamen RIder Blade) arrives as the warrior of water. Rintaro requests for the sword and book back from our hero Touma. However, it turns out that Rintaro has been chosen to become Kamen Rider Saber. They do enter into the Northern HQ which exists at... the North Pole? Well, Santa Claus did appear in Kamen Rider Wizard and has appeared in some Super Sentai series with different variations in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and Engine Sentai Go-Onger. So, I wonder if we'll see another variation of Santa Claus to appear here sooner or later. Then again, what if Santa Claus chose the Kamen Riders here?

The character Sophia provides the badly-needed exposition about the Greater Book. She is a protector of the books in the Sword of Logos organization. I'm getting RPG vibes looking at her one way or another. TBH, I was expecting a character such as one of Santa Claus' elves, Mrs. Claus, or even Santa Claus to appear and explain the powers. She does a good job explaining the job of the Kamen Riders to protect the stories from Megiddo. Though I wonder will we get references to some old school classics such as the Never Ending Story film franchise even more? We're getting some classic childhoods revived as the show reveals.

The story featured in this episode was the classic Aesop's short story The Ant and the Grasshopper. Many Kamen Riders had a grasshopper motif and I can't stop calling Riderman from Kame Rider V3 an ant. The whole story has the grasshopper monster with ants surrounding the nest. Okay, did I see the ant monsters from Kamen Rider Ryuki? What's also more nice to see is having the dual motorcycle stunt done - something that hasn't been done in a long time presumably in favor for more hand-to-hand combat. There are some CGI and stunts done here. Granted, the enemy COULD fly so I guess the stunt had to fit well for the stunt, right?

Just then, a mysterious man in a magic carpet arrives. I bet this is Kento Fukamiya and from what I read - he's a samurai. Looks like we're getting an introductory arc that will introduce us to the different Kamen Riders. I also feel we'll get more evil Kamen Riders soon to clash in what could be a grand battle royale for the Greater Book.
