Rugal's Dark History, Trust Issues, And A Bad Reunion

What're OCN dramas without some twist and turns? I was thinking of the time I watched Kill It and Justice on the KissAsian website. This time, it's Netflix's OCN drama Rugal which has some twists and turns. When we thought his wife was dead - she's alive? I thought Hwang Duk Gu was just being a psychological douche of a good villain. Yes, a very good villain who knows how to make you hate him that it's best to save him for last. The kind of good villain you love to hate and you'd hate to go so quickly. I was expecting that Ki Bum's wife Yeo Jin to be still dead. I was wondering did Argos turn her into a zombie. It turns out that she's suffering a fate worse than death. Speaking of sex workers - I'm just reminded of how Justice had its villain Sook Hoo abduct young women auditioning to be actresses and turn them into his sex slaves then murder them when he bored. It turns out Yeo Jin was turned into a sex worker.

There's some betrayal going on. Chief Choi is really getting shady here. Did he order the eyes to be carved out? Maybe not but why he allowed it (if ever) should be despicable. He had a rather weird plan to "kill" Yeo Jin and try to reunite her with Ki Bum. However, Yeo Jin foolishly escapes and was captured by Argos. Argos turned her into a sex worker. They do have their reunion later but it's all been part of a sinister scheme. The reunion is a sad one. Granted, we don't have any much on-screen development between Duk Gu and Yeo Jin makes me think she could've better off dead all along and that Duk Gu was trolling around with Ki Bum's feelings. No, we see a short, sad reunion where Yeo Jin commits suicide presumably to save her husband. The extreme stress blows out his eyes and we don't know how dangerous it is. Some of the oil could've made it to his brain as the cybernetic physician in Rugal point it out.

I don't blame Ki Bum for trust issues and going crazy. Heck, he even goes as far as to point a gun at Chief Choi and dissociate himself with Rugal! What makes it more fun to watch is how the douche of douches Duk Gu was once the first test subject of Rugal. Maybe, that's why Duk Gu has such a heavy grudge. Duk Gu is a power-hungry villain who'd do anything to get what he wants. Duk Gu gives the chairwoman Ye Won a good reason to fear him. I see why the spoiled Ye Won wants to get rid of Duk Gu. Later, Ye Won is seen taken away and lands into a conversation with someone who also hates Duk Gu. Back on track - Ki Bum really can't believe it that Chief Choi was hiding information. Why is it that information is seldom withheld? I think it had to do something to protect them. Yet, Chief Choi also has selfish motives such as trusting to test the bionic eyes out.

Ki Bum starts going haywire. He starts attacking people he believes ruined him. He sees everyone as the enemy. I just love how Mina tries to bring him back to his senses. I can't decide on what to think of Mina when she said, "What Chief Choi did is wrong but Duk Gu is much worse." Yes, remember Duk Gu murdered Mina's father too. Ki Bum's eyes start acting on their own again. Ki Bum would pull the chips away from the back leading to a bloody cliffhanger.

Two more episodes and we're done with this OCN drama.

"Light The Night's" Finale (Spoilers Ahead)

SpikyTV I guess the series just kept us guessing, right? I finally got the chance to finish it after some busy nights. I was right that the killer was HANA (Esther Liu) BUT there's a twist - it was more of voluntary manslaughter than murder. Manslaughter is when one kills out of the heat of passion and that's what Hana did twice in the story. Hana had one against a client who used her and another against Sue after some unfortunate insanity attack. Hana ends up planning to hand herself over but her lover commits murder (towards a character named Chiang An) to protect her.  The whole psychological thriller for me just didn't match up to what I wanted. I guess I was too used to how Victim's Game rolled out. I was expecting some real murder scheme. Instead, it was the anti-climatic manslaughter where Hana decides to hand herself to the authorities after what she did. I really still think that the finale wasn't worth too much of the wait. I was expecting something gran

I Just Finished "My Golden Life"

I finally finished My Golden Life which I was hesitant to watch. 52 one-hour long episodes? I was thinking it was easier to watch the Wuxia series that had 40+ minutes per episode such as Princess Weiyang which was quite long. A lot of episodes of My Golden Life would have a few minutes more depending on the coverage of the episode. So, I'm done and I never thought I'd actually finish it since I'm way too used to short K-Dramas. This one was rather long but it was rather entertaining in many ways. I was thinking about how Shin Hye Sun actually did well with on-screen partner Park Si Hoo. Sometimes, I'd like to joke about how they had a chemistry that looked good and felt good. Looked good? Both aren't attractive and I often joke how Hye Sun's face feels melted or how she was rightfully matched with Lee Jong Suk in Hymn of Death . Hye Sun isn't pretty but she really makes up with her good acting and likability. The same goes for Si Hoo with how he acts out hi

Just Finished "My Glamorous Imperial Concubine" (Some Spoilers)

This is another Wuxia series finished. I was having some expectations broken. The show can be full of spoilers when discussed even further. In fact, some characters are walking spoilers. If you're not ready to be spoiled - DON'T READ. If not, you can read further. I feel the show had some plot twists and turns. Besides, maybe some of the villains in this show weren't as evil as you think.  Emperor Liancheng is an antagonist but dies before the show can end. Liancheng may have some idiotic obsession with Ma Fuya. It becomes even worse when Liancheng's younger sister Liansi and his younger brother Lianxi get involved. Liansi develops a crush on Meng Qiyou and even gets pregnant in the process. It seems that Ma Fuya was pregnant with Liancheng's baby but ends up in Qiyou's household after Liancheng dies. Liancheng dies doing a selfless act to save Ma Fuya. The obsessive empress Ma Xiangyun commits suicide to kill Emperor Liancheng. Emperor Liancheng's quite a
