Just Started Watching The K-Drama That Filipinos Are Currently Crazy About Namely 'Crash Landing On You'

Well, I didn't think I would have immediately picked Crash Landing on You due to the lack of eye candy. Then again, Princess Weiyang itself didn't have that much eye candy but it was magnetizing because it's a good (but I heard loose) adaptation of the novel The Poisonous Daughter. Now, it would be time to tackle on a series I wanted to put aside but the final episodes of Kishinryu Sentai Ryusoulger hasn't been too pleasing so I decided to continue watching this!

So, how's the TV series? I didn't begin watching last year because I was focused on other stuff and I usually get picky about anything whether it's old or new. What sparked my curiosity is why are Filipinos getting so much hype from the show before it's crap-dubbed into Tagalog? The story somewhat rips off straight from Frank L. Baum's The Wizard of Oz where Se-Ri a South Korean heiress lands into North Korea after a tornado incident. She falls into a foreign land and she wants to return home but she has to make friends in order to survive.

The series is a comedy that actually pokes fun at how unrealistic communism is. You can check the lack of free markets and how people suffer in North Korea. Most people there use rock salt drums to preserve met. Yet, you have those in power living in very fancy homes with advanced technology. It shows how inequality is even greater in communism than in free markets. Take for example Seo Dan (who looks a lot like Peggy from Himitsu Sentai Goranger) is the niece of a North Korean officer. Seo Dan hates capitalism but she's the heiress of the state-owned department store and she went to Switzerland to study. Hmmm... I wish she went to the Netherlands and got mentored by Jose Maria Sison himself. Speaking of that - I wish Shin Hye Sun played the part of Seo Dan because of the actress's resemblance to Filipino socialist idiot Sarah Elago.

It's really entertaining yet somewhat educational. Sometimes, if people get bored with documentaries then why not appeal to them in other ways? I think Crash Landing on You is going to be a huge awakening for Filipinos watching it.
