Kamen Rider 01 Episode 9: I Will Take Care Of That Life

This week's episode is a continuation of the cliffhanger that happened last week where Isamu gets hospitalized. It's going to create some conflict especially when HumaGears are already doing some jobs to help human doctors. This would create a conflict especially when you think that Gigas (a weapon by AIMS) is already leading an army of HumaGears gone rogue.

It's been some time since we saw Jun or "Dr. Evil" who once again makes me think, "Just where's Mike Myers when you need him?" I really get conflicted with the emotions here. There's the decision to shut down the HumaGears or not. This creates some scenario because the shares of Hiden Intelligence go down AND you can imagine the public eye right now. News reports feature the assault of rogue HumaGears and their eyes turning red. "Dr. Evil" then says the best thing to do is to shut them down. I guess "Dr. Evil" is still unable to accept that his superior is a mere youngling who is yet to experience the ropes of Hiden Intelligence.

The situation itself has Yua dragged into it. Yua did take Isamu to the hospital. Yua sees the massive shutdown of HumaGears which really causes her to panic. The situation is somehow win-win for Metsubo Jinrai. Both Horobi and Jin realize that many casualties can happen due to the shutdown. It's a very good villain plan if you ask me. Yua would later request for the reactivation of the HumaGears in order to minimize the casualties. She requests both Aruto and Izu to reactivate them. I also do laugh at the mere thought that Aruto may have thought that Yua is a HumaGear herself. Wut? The result is that the casualties were zero as far as the hospital is concerned.

What also amazes me is that one Rogue HumaGear goes rogue without having red eyes. I love the conversation between Yua and Izu. Personally, I think Yua's denial is very much instinctive that she did the recording. Yua outright denies it. There's also a bit of character development between Isamu and Aruto. Right now, it just feels like Top Cat visiting an injured Officer Dibble. Isamu himself has two memories now - one from his traumatic childhood and the other where a HumaGear saves his life. I don't know how long it'll take before Isamu actually goes back to the battlefield.

Okay, so why are we adding a giant robot called Breaking Mammoth into the picture? I want to throw more crude jokes here. While this robot was meant to be a rescue robot - it's easy to see how this robot is actually used to counter Gigas. Speaking of robots, we did have the Power Dozer in Kamen Rider Fourze except Troy Burrows errr Shun Daimonji (who's also pretty much robotic in his acting early on) drove it. I also remember when old school Showa era Kamen Riders gave us incredibly huge villains such as the Great Leader's incarnations in Kamen Rider Stronger or Kamen Rider Skyrider. Side note, I saw both shows already and personally I don't know if I will ever schedule myself to watch Kamen Rider X either because most of the new school Kamen Riders are more interesting. I think this guy could've easily finished off Great Leader's giant forms if it time traveled way back into the past.

This also reminds me of one rather obscure Toku show. Do you remember the Japanese Spiderman starring Shinji Todo (who you would recognize as Hedder in Denziman and God Neros in Metalder)? If you haven't then you're probably that young. The Japanese Spiderman had a robot named Leopardon which he used to battle the giant monsters of the shows. Is Breaking Mammoth a tribute to Leopardon or not? Or is it Toei trying to revive an old concept to sell more Bandai merchandise?

"Light The Night's" Finale (Spoilers Ahead)

SpikyTV I guess the series just kept us guessing, right? I finally got the chance to finish it after some busy nights. I was right that the killer was HANA (Esther Liu) BUT there's a twist - it was more of voluntary manslaughter than murder. Manslaughter is when one kills out of the heat of passion and that's what Hana did twice in the story. Hana had one against a client who used her and another against Sue after some unfortunate insanity attack. Hana ends up planning to hand herself over but her lover commits murder (towards a character named Chiang An) to protect her.  The whole psychological thriller for me just didn't match up to what I wanted. I guess I was too used to how Victim's Game rolled out. I was expecting some real murder scheme. Instead, it was the anti-climatic manslaughter where Hana decides to hand herself to the authorities after what she did. I really still think that the finale wasn't worth too much of the wait. I was expecting something gran

I Just Finished "My Golden Life"

I finally finished My Golden Life which I was hesitant to watch. 52 one-hour long episodes? I was thinking it was easier to watch the Wuxia series that had 40+ minutes per episode such as Princess Weiyang which was quite long. A lot of episodes of My Golden Life would have a few minutes more depending on the coverage of the episode. So, I'm done and I never thought I'd actually finish it since I'm way too used to short K-Dramas. This one was rather long but it was rather entertaining in many ways. I was thinking about how Shin Hye Sun actually did well with on-screen partner Park Si Hoo. Sometimes, I'd like to joke about how they had a chemistry that looked good and felt good. Looked good? Both aren't attractive and I often joke how Hye Sun's face feels melted or how she was rightfully matched with Lee Jong Suk in Hymn of Death . Hye Sun isn't pretty but she really makes up with her good acting and likability. The same goes for Si Hoo with how he acts out hi

Just Finished "My Glamorous Imperial Concubine" (Some Spoilers)

This is another Wuxia series finished. I was having some expectations broken. The show can be full of spoilers when discussed even further. In fact, some characters are walking spoilers. If you're not ready to be spoiled - DON'T READ. If not, you can read further. I feel the show had some plot twists and turns. Besides, maybe some of the villains in this show weren't as evil as you think.  Emperor Liancheng is an antagonist but dies before the show can end. Liancheng may have some idiotic obsession with Ma Fuya. It becomes even worse when Liancheng's younger sister Liansi and his younger brother Lianxi get involved. Liansi develops a crush on Meng Qiyou and even gets pregnant in the process. It seems that Ma Fuya was pregnant with Liancheng's baby but ends up in Qiyou's household after Liancheng dies. Liancheng dies doing a selfless act to save Ma Fuya. The obsessive empress Ma Xiangyun commits suicide to kill Emperor Liancheng. Emperor Liancheng's quite a
