Vagabond Episode 8: A Conflict Of Ideals VS. A Bigger Conspiracy

This week's second episode is really getting intense. There's also the conflict of ideas between the two characters. Dal Gun is pretty much in conflict with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent Tae Woong. Tae Woong is pretty much the professional smug and Dal Gun is the head-on impulsive guy. Trying to see these two work together isn't going to be very easy.

The web of corruption here is really that intense. It turns out that the Blue House has been in cahoots with John & Mark. I'm just having chills looking at how Jessica acts so calm, pretending to be innocent, all the while she had said in episode five that money and might make right. Jessica is supposedly arrested for investigation but calmly lies through her teeth. That's what makes her a good villain. She knows how to play innocent and infuriates you with how hard it gets to take her down. But that's what makes a good villain. She has the confidence and the facade to keep the show running. The corruption in the government is working towards her favor. Prepare some righteous anger everyone!

I really have to admit the chase in Morocco is really that intense. They capture co-pilot Woo Gi who is hiding in Morocco. Jessica, on the other hand, has orders to exterminate Woo Gi to hide further evidence of her sinister activities. I love how Tae Woong relies on professionalism though he can't accept that Dal Gun led to the capture of the co-pilot. Dal Gun is determined to beat the witness up while Woo Gi uses calm methods. I wonder what's that disorder that's causing Woo Gi to have seizures? What is that pain reliever anyway? It looks like I need to do some research on medical science to understand the situation.

It's interesting to see Lily is back after she went missing for three episodes. She has a very innocent appearance that makes her an extremely good agent. She always makes sure her job is done precise and clean. I suspect that she may have done the murder of that journalist and cleaned up the whole place. I wonder did she sleep with various government officials to put them under the influence of John & Mark company? I suspect she probably killed Michael some time ago under orders. Was she wearing a black hood all the time? I also love how she scolds a fellow villain that they just can't take someone out without a good plan.

I wonder how much power does Jessica have anyway? She manages to obstruct justice with the help of Morocco's police. Does she have tons of money for that? She also later manages to manipulate a corrupt official inside the Blue House namely the Secretary of Civil Affairs. Everything turns in Jessica's favor. The current investigation team is now dismissed to further hide her activities. Is the president really that stupid or is he receiving bribes? The South Korean president in this series is just a spineless wimp. The traitor Chief Min effectively takes over Director Kang as the head of the NIS. Jessica gets it done and she calmly escapes. Chief Min who is widely incompetent takes over and I guess he's glad he's going to get paid to do nothing again. Though I'd expect Chief Min to be dead next considering both Jerome and the vice president were killed. Woo Gi is on the next hit list. Just how cold can Jessica get? She stares coldly telling us that it ain't over until it's over.

The whole scene of gunshots is really something. Okay, I do get squeamish here with the whole "You've got to operate on Woo Gi as he's received multiple gunshots." They need him alive to testify against John & Mark's involvement in a terrorist plot. Jessica can't afford to have her evil plans exposed now can she? I can't wait to see what could happen next in next week's two episodes. It's really that intense!
