My Favorite C-Drama And K-Drama Drama Couples

Happy Valentine's Day -- so I decided to write this "iffy" post of sorts which I'd like to recall the time I watched some C-Drama and K-Dramas. I'd like to do a compilation of the couples that I thought made an impact on me based on on-screen writing and cast chemistry. But I wouldn't say this is a complete list either... and it's in no particular order. You may want to keep an eye on this post since I may add more characters.

Meteor Garden's Dao Ming Si (Doumyoji Tsukasa and Tsukushi Makino)

I really can't over the time I actually wished the two had more projects together -- and it was further fueled when I started watching Chiung Yao series and started comparing them with old school actors Chin Han and Liu Xue Hua. Okay -- the relationship IS dysfunctional but I thought the on-screen chemistry between Jerry Yan and Barbie Xu-Wang beats that of real-life couple Mao Inoue and Jun Matsumoto! Jerry and Barbie were pretty much had a beautiful chemistry. It may be dysfunctional but some reason -- I just love this couple.

Yoon Jun Soh and Choi Euh Soh

The two grew up as siblings -- without knowing that they weren't related. I admit, I wasn't too fond of Korean series (at first) but I was attracted to Song Hye Kyo's beauty. But if she didn't have those good acting skills then I wouldn't be watching it for long. The first Song-Song couple which we have Song Seung Hoon and Song Hye Kyo. I can't forget how I cried like a baby over the leukemia scene. I still tend to call them Johnny and Jenny (the names which were given by GMA-7's crap dubbing). the love was so deep that Jun Soh was so heartbroken -- he literally died of it at the end when a car hit him!

Leo and Liang Yi Xun in Lavender

It's obvious it'll end in tragedy but I can't help but admire the chemistry. I knew it was going to end badly but I got hooked by the childhood attraction that endured to growing up years. But what really made me cry too hard was that Yi Xun was suffering from a heart disease and how much time does she have left? Ambrose Xu's acting is so good that he makes the two Leos (which is just one person) feel like two persons. Tammy Chen's acting is not that good but hey I just love her acting! I still can't get over the tragic ending it had and the tears shed by Ambrose as he sang the ending song for his dying (and pregnant) wife.

Li Wei Xiang and Liang Xiao Feng

I remembered this TV series and I still can't get over the chemistry. Yup, I may have had issues with Wallace Huo's struggling back then -- BUT he got better anyway! I thought about the chemistry that Wallace and Penny Lin (I hope she's married already!) had during that time. I liked how the two of them interacted in many of the show's scenes. What was even better was how Penny plays the whole "You must deceive your friends first" trope so well! I'm glad Xiao Feng lived through her infection which nearly killed her.

Lee Young Jae and Han Ji-Eun in Full House

Song Hye Kyo proves she's not just a tragic actress but a comical actress as well. I wasn't too fond of this one considering that it could be "bad comedy" for some. But there's some charm to it and it beats the whole "bootlegged" version by GMA-7 starring Richard Guiterrez and Heart Evangelista BY MILES. The chemistry between the two was so adorable especially when Young Jae starts to change for the better. Ji-Eun's feisty nature revealed the insecurities that Young Jae suffered from and helped him to become a better person. What was just a marriage of convenience ends up in love. It was funny to see them try to beat each other only to fall for each other!

Lee So Ho/Yoon Jae Ha and Seo Eun Young/Park Eun Young in Spring Waltz

The fourth and final installment of Yeon Sok Ho's Endless Love quadrology. Unlike the first one, this one had all the tears moderated to lower levels. Yup, there's still some sad moments but the couple do end up together. Both lived two different identities but find love in each other. Putting my silly crush aside -- it's a pretty good love story. I really like how they reconnected everything as they seek to be together and won at the end!

Yang Guo and Xiao Long Nu  in Return of Condor Heroes (2006)

I haven't seen Andy Lau's and Idy Chan's version so I can't comment plus I don't seem to care too much about old school Chinese drama either -- except if it appeals to me. I watched through Condor Heroes and I know it's a mismatch of age since Yang Guo is four years younger than Xiao Long Nu -- all the while Liu Yi Fei is TEN YEARS older than Huang Xiao Ming. But I can't deny that there was some chemistry here and there especially with dealing with the issue that a former student wants to marry a woman who used to be his teacher -- which was viewed as taboo during that time.

Jo Hyun Jae and Yoon Shi Yeon in Forbidden Love

This one beats LOBO by miles -- yup take that Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual! Kim Tae Hee is more than just eye candy -- she's really badass and right now her genes seem to be so badass her daughter with husband Rain looks too much like her! I think about how the love story between a police officer and a gumiho is better written than that of Lovi Poe's Aswang movie! It goes to where Hyun Jae learns his girlfriend is of a gumiho -- which brings a dilemma like every horror romance film when you discover you're dating a monster.

Li Ya Shou and Wu Shi Liang in Love at First Fight

Kung Fu Hustle was funny -- but not as funny as this series IMO. One reason why I tend to prefer series over movie at times is that characters have more room to be fleshed out. Wallace Huo trying comedy was good for a change. I liked how the comedic interaction of the odd couple resulted in several hijinks and crazy scenes. For me, it's still one of the best comedic love stories over!

Choi Kang Chi and Dam Yeo Wool

No, it's not Jun Masuda and Hiroyo Hakase during their past life even if I like to joke that it is. I didn't find the chemistry of Lee Seung Gi and Han Hyo Joo all that special if you ask me. Instead, I wanted to think about how Suzy Bae plays her part as Yeo Wool pretty well or how Seung Gi could have made a good impression of Hidenori Iura's characters in Tokusatsu. I liked how it was an awkward moment. It wasn't a love story immediately and it really made me want to cry when Yeo Wool spent her last moments with Kang Chi. Kang Chi due to his being a Nagare Bouma wanders the Earth and finds Yeo Wool's reincarnation. It's on crack but it's really a good love story!

Wol Ryung and Seo Wa

Perhaps my favorite love story in Kang Chi. I think it beats Turboranger's love story behind Kirika's Bouma father and human mother by miles -- due to how much it was more fleshed out during the whole series since they are also the protagonist's parents! It's the beginning of Kang Chi. Wol Ryung and gumiho falls in love with a human in Seo Wa. Seo Wa was lusted after the main antagonist Joo Gwan Wong. She ends up having a relationship with the fox-demon without knowing his origins. Later, they would meet each other again. I always thought about how Wol Ryung's hurt was probably one of the best written ones in star-crossed relationships!

Captain Yoo Si Jin and Dr. Kang Mo Yeon

2016 is Boukenger's tenth anniversary and I sometimes wish this was a 16 episode series focused on Satoru and Sakura... hehe! This is where Song Hye Kyo met the love of her life Song Joong Ki (and raised up plenty of despair energy last year). I thought trying to meet the interests of a captain and a doctor is something. Mo Yeon wants to save lives while Si Jin must take lives if necessary. There are funny moments and I can't help but think it's way more charming than the closing scene of Gekiranger vs. Boukenger -- where it's implied Satoru and Sakura hooked up.

Jae Chan and Hong Jo

I was thinking of all the development both Jae Chan and Hong Joo had in While You Were Sleeping. They both have dreams about the future. Jae Chan tries to dismiss them until he feels they're so real. He did save Hong Jo from possibly getting framed by Yo Bum. Hong Joo herself saw that she would be in a relationship with Jae-Chan. Bizarre but still a good one!

Stay tuned for this post to update -- if ever! =P

"Light The Night's" Finale (Spoilers Ahead)

SpikyTV I guess the series just kept us guessing, right? I finally got the chance to finish it after some busy nights. I was right that the killer was HANA (Esther Liu) BUT there's a twist - it was more of voluntary manslaughter than murder. Manslaughter is when one kills out of the heat of passion and that's what Hana did twice in the story. Hana had one against a client who used her and another against Sue after some unfortunate insanity attack. Hana ends up planning to hand herself over but her lover commits murder (towards a character named Chiang An) to protect her.  The whole psychological thriller for me just didn't match up to what I wanted. I guess I was too used to how Victim's Game rolled out. I was expecting some real murder scheme. Instead, it was the anti-climatic manslaughter where Hana decides to hand herself to the authorities after what she did. I really still think that the finale wasn't worth too much of the wait. I was expecting something gran

I Just Finished "My Golden Life"

I finally finished My Golden Life which I was hesitant to watch. 52 one-hour long episodes? I was thinking it was easier to watch the Wuxia series that had 40+ minutes per episode such as Princess Weiyang which was quite long. A lot of episodes of My Golden Life would have a few minutes more depending on the coverage of the episode. So, I'm done and I never thought I'd actually finish it since I'm way too used to short K-Dramas. This one was rather long but it was rather entertaining in many ways. I was thinking about how Shin Hye Sun actually did well with on-screen partner Park Si Hoo. Sometimes, I'd like to joke about how they had a chemistry that looked good and felt good. Looked good? Both aren't attractive and I often joke how Hye Sun's face feels melted or how she was rightfully matched with Lee Jong Suk in Hymn of Death . Hye Sun isn't pretty but she really makes up with her good acting and likability. The same goes for Si Hoo with how he acts out hi

Just Finished "My Glamorous Imperial Concubine" (Some Spoilers)

This is another Wuxia series finished. I was having some expectations broken. The show can be full of spoilers when discussed even further. In fact, some characters are walking spoilers. If you're not ready to be spoiled - DON'T READ. If not, you can read further. I feel the show had some plot twists and turns. Besides, maybe some of the villains in this show weren't as evil as you think.  Emperor Liancheng is an antagonist but dies before the show can end. Liancheng may have some idiotic obsession with Ma Fuya. It becomes even worse when Liancheng's younger sister Liansi and his younger brother Lianxi get involved. Liansi develops a crush on Meng Qiyou and even gets pregnant in the process. It seems that Ma Fuya was pregnant with Liancheng's baby but ends up in Qiyou's household after Liancheng dies. Liancheng dies doing a selfless act to save Ma Fuya. The obsessive empress Ma Xiangyun commits suicide to kill Emperor Liancheng. Emperor Liancheng's quite a
