My Thoughts On While You Were Sleeping Episodes 17-18

We last left off with a murder mystery which still bothers me A LOT. Yes, this episode starts to get serious especially with how cruel fate can be.

Yo BUMMER bums the audiences again. He always has his "good boy cover" while he's actually a dirty lawyer. He presents his case where he takes advantage of a terminally ill man who has pancreatic cancer. He also wants to get the money ASAP which makes me think he makes such a good villain. He knows how to play his cards right.

I always feel the bad side for Hong Joo. I think her nightmares are getting the best of her and she tries to reroute the flow of time in some way. She sees Jae Chan could die and there's two versions of this dream. One is where she dreams the suspect Hak Young is acquitted and the other isn't. I guess Hak Young would have killed Jae Chan if and if ever he wasn't acquitted but she never dreamed of a third final outcome.

So she does the absurd (again) by attempting to let Jae Chan dress differently. I find this really funny how she caused this incident. Meanwhile at work...

Hmmm the news report Sun Bae wrote. this is a really huge viral trend because people don't know the truth. Yes, you know how dangerous ignorance of the facts is, right Philippine Daily Inquirer, Rappler and ABS-CBN?! This starts to a deeper, more powerful investigation which leads to prove that the murder didn't happen. The trail was written by a robot vacuum but they must prove it.

The investigation leads to the trash dump. I would hate to be in their shoes digging for all those robot vacuums. Fortunately, Sun Bae shows up and helps them find all the robot vacuums. A later scene shows DNA test proves that the trail of blood wasn't done by Hak Young and that the archer died by accident. But Yo BUMMER has more evil plans ahead and it's too early to celebrate.

There is also a lot of moral dilemmas in this story. Jae Chan acquits a person who the public thinks is a criminal but isn't convicted of anything. Hong Joo also takes the risk of getting fired by telling her superior that they must admit they are wrong. Yes, a news company should be ready to admit they had the facts wrong. It would be better to admit your mistake now than to continue insisting that you're right when you're not.

Meanwhile, we see Hak Young have an interview with Jae Chan. This is where he admits some inner ill feelings. I felt this scene was really an intense one. This also leads to another incident hours later.

Hong Joo prevents Jae Chan from getting stabbed. But this ends up in a rather difficult situation. The old man shoots Jae Chan. So you could prevent one disaster but only ends up with another happening? Right now, I'm even thinking of how Mirai Sentai Timeranger's future ended up with Captain Ryuya's change of fate. Is this the same backlash that happened here? Hopefully we'll get more answers.
