I haven't seen the Kamen Rider EX-AID post-movie sequels yet but I'll give my thoughts on Kamen Rider Build. Okay, he looks like a modified version of Kamen Rider W (suit-wise) except he doesn't have the two-in-one hero motif like the former. So what's next?
The story has the Pandora's Box's power getting released. I wonder how stupid are people to have loose security during the time the box was brought from Mars anyway? The nation of Japan is now split into three countries. Hokuto is on the north focused on social welfare, Seito is in the west pursuing economic recovery and Touto adheres to traditional pacifism. The Sky Wall incident caused this division and other countries want to take advantage of it.
Is it me or are we getting vibes of Kamen Rider Agito here? The main hero Sento Kiryu has lost his memories for the past ten years. He's a genius physicist but he doesn't even have any memory of who he is. I think Toei wants to repeat some parts of Kamen Rider Agito into this show without trying to be Kamen Rider Agito. I hope that Sento's storyline will be dealt with as interestingly as possible. Speaking of ten years it's highly possible that Build either takes place in its own continuity or it takes place in the year 2027. Imagine, how many Super Sentai and Kamen Rider seasons may have been created for new generations that time!
Speaking of which, there's a villain who looks like an evil version of Kamen Rider Kiva. This one is named Night Rogue though it's too early to determine what he'll do. But I hope the villains in this series will be vicious.
This is a weird transformation sequence. I guess we have to pretend this transformation takes place in the blink of an eye but we get to see it in slow motion. I mean, couldn't the monster take advantage of this situation if it were that slow?
This is a series of amazing stunts with stunt doubles. The escape scene with alleged murderer Ryuga Banjyou is one amazing scene. The story is still beginning. So what's with this new organization that's been experimenting on humans who become the Smash. Like Kamen Rider W, the Smash are monsters that turn back into normal humans when they're defeated. The protagonist Build collects whatever is left of the Smash's particles to be used for various experiments.
Speaking of which, I think Yukari Taki's age (she's turning 30 next month) is still inspiring me that I'm not too old for Kamen Rider. Then again, I still prefer new school Kamen Rider over new school Super Sentai while I can still watch both. But right now, I'm more into the new school Kamen Rider whether it'd be darker and edgier or lighter and softer as of the moment. =P
But again, please don't expect me to do an episode by episode review of any Kamen Rider series. But I'll try to do some posts whenever plot moves forward or depending how I feel. After all, doing the weekly Super Sentai review posts is easier said than done.
